China‘s military spy plane violated Japan’s airspace in the Danjo Islands area for the first time on 26 August 2024.
Danjo Islands are located about 140 kilometers from the Kyushu Island – one of the four main islands of Japan.
Chinese ships have been regularly maneuvering near Japan’s Senkaku Islands that are claimed by China. Senkaku Islands, however, are located in the far southwest of the Japanese territory, close to Taiwan. The incident on 26 August marks the first known Chinese military violation of Japanese territory so close to the main four islands of Japan.
