MENA Theater Update, 4 September 2024

The Houthis continued their campaign of attacks against commercial ship passing through the Red Sea.

In a latest major manifestation of the campaign, on 2 September 2024, the Houthis conducted a missile and drone attack on two oil tankers, Amjad and Blue Lagoon I, carrying crude oil. The tankers were about 130 kilometers northwest of the Houthi-controlled Yemeni port of As-Salif at the time of the attack. Both ships were hit, but apparently did not sustain critical damage.

The United States and Britain, meanwhile, continued to conduct air strikes against the Houthis in attempt to limit their attacks against commercial shipping.
