On 5 September 2024, intelligence agencies of the US, Britain, Germany, Netherlands, Ukraine, Canada, Australia, Czechia, Estonia and Latvia published a joint document describing subversive activities against the Western countries conducted by the Russian military intelligence.
The Russians targeted “critical infrastructure, government agencies and private companies involved in finance, transport, energy and health” across various Western states.
The Russian efforts apparently “look like preparation for an overt attack on Nato, particularly with the reconnaissance and preparation for sabotage of logistics links, rail networks and so on across Europe.”

Iran launched deliveries of Fath-360 short-range ballistic missiles to Russia, for the use in its war against Ukraine.
More than 200 of the missiles arrived “in a Russian Caspian Sea port” in early September 2024.
The missiles have a range of up to 120 kilometers and can be used by Russia against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, cities, and frontline positions.
Iran’s move is a new step in the Iranian military support of Russia in the Russo-Ukrainian War that has been conducted by Tehran since the fall of 2022.
