Late on 8 September 2024 Israel conducted the largest series of airstrikes against the Assad regime and Iranian assets in its air campaign in Syria that has been going on for the last several years.
A number of targets were hit during the airstrike series that reportedly went on for about three hours.
One of the main targets was the scientific research facility near Masyaf where “Iranian Revolutionary Guards officers had been stationed … for six years as part of a programme to develop short- and medium-range precision missiles and drones.”
Other targets included military industrial facilities, weapons and Iranian military personnel in a number of places, including the areas of Damascus, Tartus, Homs and Hama.
