On 13 September 2024, Germany‘s frigate accompanied by a supply ship conducted a transit through the Taiwan Strait, in defiance of China’s claims that the strait is under Chinese sovereignty rather than an international waterway.
In this act, Germany joined the US and Canada who have been conducting the Taiwan Strait transits by warships during the recent years.
