The head of Ukraine‘s GUR military intelligence service, Kyrylo Budanov, stated on 14 September 2024 that North Korea‘s arms supplies constituted by far the most significant foreign help Russia has been receiving in its war against Ukraine, creating “major problems” for the Ukrainian forces fighting the Russians.
Budanov said that North Korea was giving Russia “huge amounts of artillery ammunition,” which is a highly important factor in the frontline conditions of the Russo-Ukrainian War. Budanov also said that the dependence of Russia’s frontline activities on the North Korean supplies was clearly visible, with Russian attacks intensifying for two weeks about 8-9 days after arrival of each shipping of the North Korean ammunition.
