The military conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, Iran‘s military and political asset, has transferred to a new stage.
Starting from about 19 September 2024, the two sides have been exchanging fire at a rate significantly higher than during the previous stage of the conflict that had been going on after Hezbollah started to fire at Israel on 8 October 2023.
Israel now conducts numerous airstrikes all over southern and parts of eastern Lebanon, where Hezbollah’s assets and infrastructure are based. Hezbollah has greatly increased the number of rocket attacks on northern Israel.
While this new phase of the war is much more intense than the previous one, the two sides have not gone all in, yet. Aside from the lack of an Israeli ground offensive into Lebanon, Israel is able to conduct much more destructive airstrikes, and Hezbollah can launch much deeper and more intense rocket strikes into Israel, than the two sides are doing at the moment.
