The efforts include a wide array of political, diplomatic, soft power, cyber and legal means, including attempts to get Taiwanese celebrities to publicly support unification with the People’s Republic of China.
A major objective in the Chinese subversive pressure against Taiwan is to weaken the confidence of both Taiwan itself and the US in the island’s ability to defend itself against China’s military aggression.
China’s subversion against Taiwan, as well as the gradually increasing military pressure, are conducted by Beijing in preparation for a military attack against the island set to take place during the next few years.
