On 18 November 2024, the United States and the Philippines signed a military intelligence-sharing agreement, and launched establishment of “a coordination center that will facilitate collaboration between their armed forces.”
The signed deal will allow the two countries to share intelligence securely, while the coordination center is set to “enable real-time information sharing” between the two allies. US defense secretary Austin said the center “will be a place where our forces can work side by side to respond to regional challenges.”
The development is another step in the military cooperation between the US and the Philippines conducted in preparation for a possible Chinese military aggression in East Asia.
