On 5 December 2024, the Syrian rebels attack and took the city of Hama from the forces of the Assad regime.
The city was taken in a very short period, with the Assad forces failing to mount serious resistance. During the previous several days, the rebels had been consolidating their gains in the area to the immediate north of Hama.
