Russia reportedly has been making new attempts to secure a naval station in Port Sudan, by trying to induce Sudan’s military government engaged in an internal war against the RSF rebels with military support.
One of the latest attempts in this regard by Moscow was an offer to give Sudan S-400 air defense missile systems in exchange for the Russian navy’s use of Port Sudan. The proposal was reportedly rejected by the Sudanese government.

Following series of the Houthis’ attempted missile and drone attacks against Israel, in the early hours of 19 December 2024, Israeli air force hit Houthi-controlled infrastructure in Yemen, including the ports of Hodeidah and Salif, Ras Issa oil facility, and two power stations in the Yemeni capital Sanaa.
