On 20 December 2024, Australia announced it would “pay for more police in Solomon Islands and create a police training center” in its capital, Honiara.
Australia will spend $118 million over four years on the undertaking.
The development comes as a continuation of Australia’s competition with China’s geopolitical influence in Solomon Islands.
