On 10 January 2025, the United States and Britain imposed major new sanctions on Russia due to its war against Ukraine.
The new Anglo-American measures hit Russia’s oil industry and trade, including “Russian oil producers, tankers, intermediaries, traders and ports” in an effort to decrease Moscow’s revenue.
