In early March 2025, Russian attacks succeeded in taking back most of the Ukrainian-held territory in Russia’s Kursk administrative region.
The only town held by Ukraine there, Sudzha, was retaken by Russia around 11-13 March.
By 19 March, the pace of Russian advance slowed down, with Ukraine holding a small part of the Kursk region including four villages, and the fighting taking place in the Russia-Ukraine national border area.
