By 12 April 2025, Israeli armed forces captured from the Hamas control an area in south Gaza Strip known as the Morag corridor.
The area in question stretches from the Israel-Gaza border to the sea. As a result of this advance, Israel cut off the city of Rafah from the rest of the Hamas-controlled territory. Given Israel’s previous capture of the Netzarim corridor, the takeover of the Morag area cut the Hamas-held land in three parts isolated from one another.
The latest advance of the Israeli forces is another step towards accomplishing Jerusalem’s objective to eliminate the territorial control of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
