The exchange of fire between India and Pakistan that started on 7 May 2025, ended with a ceasefire on 10 May.
The two powers had been exchanging drone and missile strikes along with intense artillery fire after India conducted airstrikes against Pakistan on 7 May.
India’s military action was launched in response to the 22 April terrorist attack, in an effort to deter Pakistan-backed terrorism in India, particularly in Kashmir where Pakistan has been trying to undermine Indian control ever since the two countries gained their independence.
