Reportedly, North Korea has sent 700 of its elite troops to Burkina Faso “to ensure the safety of President Ibrahim Traore and stabilize his regime after the recent coup attempts.”
The move is a new element in North Korea’s recent close strategic cooperation with Russia. Burkina Faso is ruled by one of the African regimes that are propped up by Russia, host Russian troops or paramilitaries, and whose territory is the geopolitical space where Moscow operates freely.
