Russian sources reported on 12 May 2025 that a Russian military base was in the process of being constructed in Sudan‘s Red Sea port city, Port Sudan.
The development follows Russia’s long-term efforts to induce Sudan’s ruling military regime to give Moscow naval basing rights in Port Sudan.
