Pakistan’s agriculture and food supply heavily depend upon water from the rivers flowing from India’s territory. India’s uses this fact to apply pressure on Pakistan for it to refrain from the covert subversion against India, in particular the backing of terrorist attacks by Islamist groups in India, with Prime Minister Modi saying: “Pakistan will have to pay a heavy price for every terrorist attack … Pakistan’s army will pay it. Pakistan’s economy will pay it.”
