According to media reports from 21 May 2025, Israel and Turkey continued their talks regarding the future extension of the Turkish military basing in Syria.
Reportedly, Israel indicated it had no objections to the Turkish ground forces’ basing in Syria, with exception of the three southern provinces (Quneitra, Deraa and Suweida) where it had declared a demilitarized zone, but could not accept the deployment in Syria of the Turkish air defense systems and radars that could control the Israeli air force’s activities in the Syrian sky.
