On 23 June 2025, Israel expanded the category of targets it had being hitting in Iran beyond the nuclear, air defense and ballistic missile assets. This time, Israeli air force bombed a number of the regime’s assets belonging to its apparatus of internal oppression.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, the targets included: “command centers and assets belonging to the IRGC and internal security forces;” the headquarters of Basij; Alborz Corps overseeing “security and military operations in the Tehran District;” Thar Allah Command Center “tasked with defending Tehran from security threats;” Sayyed al-Shuhada Corps “responsible for homeland defense and the suppression of internal unrest;” the General Intelligence Directorate of the Internal Security Forces that “supervises personnel within the internal security wing and manages the monitoring and control of organizational information and media.”
The question standing after these Israeli strikes was whether Israel would continue to demolish the Iranian regime’s internal oppression assets in a consistent manner in the subsequent period, thus improving the chances of the large part of the Iranian people striving for freedom to eliminate the regime.
