On 17 August 2025, Turkey conducted a drone strike on the Syrian Kurds’ SDF personnel. The attack took place in the Syrian Kurdish-controlled territory near Raqqa.
Turkey’s action, taken after a pause in the Turkish strikes against the Syrian Kurds since the spring of 2025, might be an attempt to apply pressure on the Syrian Kurds to give up the part of Syria they control to the former rebel government of Syria.
