India announced on 21 November 2025 that “air cargo services between India and Afghanistan will be launched soon.”
The statement was made while the Taliban’s trade minister, Nooruddin Azizi, was on a visit to India. The minister “urged India to boost trade and open cargo hubs as Kabul seeks access to grains, medicines and industrial goods following the closure of its border with Pakistan after military clashes.”
India’s move aims to contribute to the strengthening of its influence with the Taliban at the expense of Pakistan.
