On 26 November 2025, the United States made a temporary deal with the Dominican Republic allowing it to deploy American military personnel in the country.
The agreement grants the Americans access to “restricted zones at Las Americas International Airport and the San Isidro air base” in the Dominican Republic, involves “logistical and non-combat” activities “allowing US aircraft to refuel and move equipment in support of regional missions,” and is set to expire in April 2026.

On 26 and 27 November 2025, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago said that the United States Marines were working at the airport on Tobago on “a runway and a road and a radar,” and would “help us to improve our surveillance and the intelligence of the radars for the narco-traffickers in our waters and outside our waters.”
