WSJ reported on 12 December that in November 2025 the United States military forces had seized a military-related cargo that Iran was trying to import. The shipment in question was seized by US forces raiding a vessel in the Indian Ocean, “several hundred miles off the coast of Sri Lanka.” Americans allowed the vessel to proceed after destroying the shipment.
The cargo “consisted of components potentially useful for Iran’s conventional weapons.” The US action aimed at hindering Iranian efforts to restore its military capabilities recently damaged in a war with Israel.
