Latest reports concerning Yemen appear to indicate that the Saudi Arabian-backed offensive by Yemen’s government against the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council in January 2026 has resulted in the STC ceasing to exercise effective territorial control over any significant part of the continental southern Yemen. Likewise, UAE’s influence in that area appears to have been critically diminished.
