Ukraine’s offensive in the Kursk region continued to develop rapidly on 8 August 2024. By the afternoon of 8 August, Ukrainians had advanced significantly east, northeast and northwest from the area of their initial 6 August breakthrough across the border.
Their advance included two prongs of about 30 kilometers from the border in the direction of Kursk. In addition, Ukrainians completed the takeover of district center Sudzha, and approached another district center Korenevo on the road towards Rylsk. They also advanced south of Korenevo.
