On 31 May and 1 June 2026, the United States and Iran exchanged strikes around the Strait of Hormuz. After Iran shot down a US MQ-1 drone operating over international waters, US Central Command conducted strikes on Iranian radar sites and drone command-and-control facilities on Qeshm Island and in Goruk, also shooting down two Iranian attack drones threatening ships in regional waters. Iran subsequently launched two ballistic missiles targeting US forces in Kuwait, which US forces intercepted. No American personnel were harmed in either exchange.
