On 9–10 June 2026, the United States and Iran exchanged strikes for a second consecutive day. On 9 June, US Central Command completed three waves of strikes against Iranian air defense, ground control, and radar sites — a response to Iran downing a US Apache helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz on 8 June. Iran responded by targeting 21 sites at US bases across the region, including the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, Ali al-Salem base in Kuwait, and a US air base in Jordan.
On 10 June, US Central Command launched a further wave of strikes against dozens of targets in Iran, including military surveillance capabilities, communication systems, and air defense sites. Iran responded with ballistic missile strikes on US assets in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.
