The United States and Iran continued their fighting during the recent days. US forces hit bridges, rail lines, and a maritime observation tower in southern Iran, destroying a port surveillance tower that the IRGC had used to track and target commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, and cutting road and rail links connecting Iran’s southern coast to the rest of the country. US strikes also hit a railway station near the naval base in Bandar Abbas.
The US strikes against Iran are aimed at degrading Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has been firing on Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, and Qatar. Iran also fired a ballistic missile at a US base in Saudi Arabia for the first time in this round of fighting, while continuing to target shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, including a Thai-flagged vessel struck for attempting to transit without Iranian authorization.
