MENA Theater Update, 23 July 2026

On 20 July 2026, the Houthis announced a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea, warning ships against loading or discharging Saudi oil and threatening to attack vessels that did.

On 22–23 July, Houthi forces struck two Saudi oil tankers, with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, saying the vessels had violated the blockade. The Houthis said they had also forced around 10 other ships to retreat and return.
