On 8 September 2026, the Houthis struck Saudi Arabia‘s energy infrastructure with drones and missiles, hitting facilities in Abha, Najran and Jazan. The attacks set gas and oil storage facilities ablaze, including a power plant in Abha, and left the Jazan refinery offline; Aramco’s Jazan facilities had already been hit the previous day.
The Houthis also struck the Khamis Mushait Air Base, though the extent of the damage was unclear, while a separate strike on Jazan’s airport failed.

Since 5 September 2026, Iran fired ballistic missiles at a US aircraft carrier, Navy destroyers, and at least one Marine ship on several occasions; all the attacks had failed, Centcom said.

Iran then fired ballistic missiles at a base near Al Azraq used by US forces in Jordan; Jordan’s air defenses intercepted 18 of 20 missiles, with two falling in unpopulated areas.
